FURNITURE CARE

  • The reclaimed pine timber we use to manufacture our furniture comes from a number of different sources and does vary in age.  All the timber is thoroughly dried before use.

  • The timber may have surface irregularities such as variations in colour, natural knots and flaws and perhaps signs of its previous use.  As a natural product the pine may move or develop hairline cracks when subjected to variations in atmospheric temperature and light.
  • The Old Pine Store makes every effort to achieve a constant standard of workmanship in the manufacture and finish of every piece of furniture.  We do not accept responsibility for natural inconsistencies or indeed consider them to detract from the overall appearance of the furniture.
  • We recommend that furniture should not be exposed to a direct source of heat and it should be kept away from direct light.  Unfortunately modern day heating methods do often produce an excessively warm and dry atmosphere.
  • The furniture has a hand waxed finish.  To maintain this finish dust should be thoroughly removed and then soft wax applied very sparingly in the direction of the grain.   When the wax has dried ad thorough polishing is necessary to ensure all surplus wax is removed and a smeary build up does not occur.  A short fibre woollen cloth is recommended to achieve a final gloss.  Avoid spray polish because of their high water content.
